Reminiscing :)
Some people say that reminiscing and being nostalgic is bad for you. That we shouldn't live in the past and only look forward. I think that's twoddle. Depending on what context you're looking back in.
I've been feeling a little glum with a few things (not enough time to do things I want to do - don't we all!) but looking over these old photographs made my heart warm and my face smile, so I thought I'd share them with you :)
I don't know about you but I could look at old photos ALL DAY. Even of people I don't know. There's just something about the past that I'm magnetised towards. In the words of a Beach Boy, I just wasn't made for these times...or maybe they weren't made for me? Anyway, I'm smiling again after seeing these snaps. Thanks for the photos Uncle Tony!
Much love peeps xxx

Adelphi 190412
Eeeeek! It's Friday 13th! I'm not actually really that bothered by unlucky superstitious stuff like that though. Unless it's positive superstition like lucky black cats and four leaf clovers (depending on what part of the planet you're from) :)
Anyhoo, my main reason for dropping by Bloggerville is to let you know about another gig! Again it's with my band The Happy Endings. We'll be playing a more amplified and electric set than usual, with Adz on electric guitar, Rach on keyboards and with percussion too. We're on the bill with some pretty talented peeps too, I'll have you know...
Our friend and birthday boy Dan Mawer's band La Bete Blooms will be headlining - these guys never fail to put on a captivating show and so I'm personally looking forward to this because I'm a massive fan of their music. They have added awesomeness with a new band member too - exciting times :)
ALSO on the bill are bands The Dead Hormones and Perk Culture - check them out, since for once, I've managed to link you up! This eve is gonna be RAMMED full of fine music, so you'd be a fool to miss out! This isn't me shamelessly plugging a gig (well, maybe to a certain extent) but this is me also, genuinely wanting to share a great night of music with you lovely folk.
Full details of the gig can be found HERE on Facebook in case you're wondering how to get to the venue (The New Adelphi Club)
This gem of a gig will be happening on THURS 19 APRIL and tickets are £3 or £5 OTD. If you would like a ticket, please get in touch either on here or at any of these places:

Going Solo
So this is my second post since being absent from Blogger for a while. It feels like I’m starting all over again and I’m fumbling around trying to think of what to say.
I’ll start by telling you about the love that has been consuming a lot of my time recently (as it always does) – MUSIC! You may already know that I have a sweet little acoustic band called the Happy Endings with whom I’ve been gallivanting all over the North East of England (ahem, Hull) for the past few years. As much as I love that little band and although I’m still mustering up songs for them, I felt another outlet was necessary. So I decided to embark upon a solo project!
I’ve been toying with the idea for a long time but never really had the guts to go ahead and do it. Partly because of my lack of confidence and partly because I thought my fellow band members would be Unhappy Endings about it all! Anyway, I thought about it a lot while I was off work with my bad foot and started to write some songs to kill the boredom of sick leave.
I decided I wasn’t going to record these tracks myself. Although I’m really keen to get to grips with technology I have to hand (I’ve just got an Interface and Pro Tools to record on my Macbook!), it kind of takes the fun out of things when stuff doesn’t go to plan; I’m not exactly George Martin when I get behind a recording mixer and I just end up getting frustrated, abandoning projects, never to see the light of day again.
So to stop the inevitable disasters, I chose to work with my good friend and fellow musician, John Cox. Not only is he possibly the nicest person I know (seriously, he is!), he has an incredible back catalogue of self penned and self recorded songs. He sings, he plays, he writes, he records – he is indeed in my opinion overall awesome, so therefore it was a no brainer.
We’ve so far, after only a few sessions, recorded and finished two songs and the third was almost there last night – I’ve never had so much fun recording! I also brought my man Dan down to record with us on a couple of tracks. Both John and Dan have great voices and a real ear for melodies and harmonies so they were a pleasure to work with. They’ve brought ukulele, bass and other lovely additions to the mix also – sounds fab if I do say so myself!

Anyway, I’ve rambled enough already…
So if you’re interested in what I’m doing in the world of music, you can follow/friend/stalk me via the sites below:
I do have Reverbnation and Myspace accounts but I'm having real trouble getting onto those sites at the moment and wouldn't want to subject you all to the same frustrations! Apologies also for the poor picture quality. I do have some better pics on my camera...I just need to find the time to upload them!
Looking forward to you hearing the finished songs - I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed recording them!

Hello Strangers!
Well…it feels like a LIFETIME since my ramblings graced the pixelated pages of Blogger! What can I say, apart from I’ve really missed you guys?!
I feel like for the past couple of months my cyber voicebox has been temporarily muffled, for a few different reasons. I won’t bore you with the details but basically my ranting got me into a little bit of trouble. Normally I stand by everything I say (and I still stand by what I said) but in this instance, I quietened down somewhat, for the sake of an *easier* life.
Anyhoo, I’ll say no more on the matter. Case closed. Let’s move on!
Since my last post I’ve been absolutely DYING to blog. So many exciting things have happened in the world of music, my friends and me. Lots of the talented people I am lucky to know, are working on amazing projects I’ve wanted to scream from the rooftops about! (Probably safer to do that than tweet/blog about them anyway…!)
I can’t scream about them all at once, that’d just be annoying. So instead I’ll ease myself (and your good selves!) back in with some little nuggets of info and gems of people that I think the whole wide world should know about J
I’ve got so much catching up to on my blog reads too – you make my eyes smile, people! Much more than spreadsheets and paperwork anyway…(careful, Emma…!)
Anyway, thanks for sticking around guys and love to my new followers too. You’re all beauts J
Wowsers, it’s good to be back!

Speaking Louder Than Words
My words have gotten me into trouble just lately, so for now I'll post pictures until the dust settles. Because, let's face it, they often speak louder than words don't they?
For now I'll share this winter sunset with you. Dan and I caught it on the way home from Beverley a bit ago...
...stunning eh?
While I'm here, thank you to my lovely new followers - and to the older ones, thank you for sticking around!
Much love xxx

Grumble, grumble, whinge, whinge...
That blog post I made the other day?
Well kinda disregard that...the bit about me going back to work and
doing a gig on Tuesday anyway. I feel bad for wasting your eyes on
it – sorry.
I've decided against returning to work
this week, because of a few things. I admit my main incentive was to
do the gig the other night, rather than to get back to work. I mean,
I can't say I enjoy work – that would make me some kind of sicko
robot - but I LOVE gigging. But because my confidence on my foot
isn't that good and the pavements outside are like ice rinks, I'm
avoiding going back. I'm the clumsiest person on earth as it is,
without the added danger of slippery walking surfaces!
And why not stay off, since my sick
note suggests I go back NEXT week. It's not as if I'll get extra
thanks or respect for going back early. If I was paid to save lives
or if I got paid well, I'd feel pretty bad right now, but I don't.
Plus I don't want to end up like my ma who went back to work early on
her injured foot and she STILL suffers after over a year.
There it is – I've convinced myself
I'm doing the right thing. Not that I should have to feel guilty.
But I do. I'm not a work shirk!
It's funny because my friend said to me
the other day, “oh it must be awful being off sick at home, I mean
there's only so much day time TV you can watch isn't there?!”....er,
I don't have a TV! Her response to this horrific revelation from me
was simply, “What?! So does that mean you don't watch SOAPS?!”
No Caroline, I don't watch soaps. Bless her and her square eyes.
Instead, I'll be doing something like
this with my time...

| Mermaids and stuff. And me & 'oompa loompa' coloured Dan! |
I made these when I first injured my
foot. They're little clay thingummies that I'm hoping to use in some
way and maybe eventually sell on another craft stall with sister
Rachel. Hopefully this crafting will distract me from the guilt I'm
feeling for cancelling the gig.
For the record, Neil and Marie (the
organisers) were complete stars and organised alternative
entertainment last night and have even been lovely enough to offer us
another date there on 10th April, inspite of me letting
them down last minute – so massive thanks to them for being so
understanding :) If you're from this area and you're looking for a
good night of music, they run their night every Tuesday – you can
find more information about up and coming acts on Facebook (which AGAIN isn't working on here, so no link I'm afraid!) - just type in Tuesday At The Tap or The Grafton. Or mail me for dates at happend6@gmail.com :)
AND most importantly of all, it was
Mamma Fee's birthday Tuesday if you didn't notice my tweet – so
Happy 58th Frankie Fee!!
Until next time, wrap up warm kiddies!
